Savannah Music Festival LIVE 1222 – Jerusalem Quartet 2019

The Jerusalem Quartet formed in the early 1990s while its members were students at the Jerusalem Conservatory of Music and Dance. In its debut year, the quartet was awarded first prize in the chamber music category by the Jerusalem Academy followed by two prizes at the Graz International Competition the following year. On this episode of Savannah Music Festival LIVE, we listen to a portion of the Jerusalem Quartet’s concert given on April 11, 2019 at our festival. It was their second Savannah Music Festival appearance, following up a 2014 debut, and the quartet played a captivating program including Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 5 in A Major, Opus 18, Ravel’s String Quartet in F Major, and the String Quartet No. 3 in F Major, Opus 73 by Dmitri Shostakovich. Over the next hour, we’ll listen to the Beethoven and Ravel Quartets, and we will come back to the Shostakovich in a future episode.
