Savannah Music Festival LIVE 541 – Two Russian Sonatas

Though Russia got a late start in developing its native tradition of classical music, by the late 19th and early 20th century, the country was well into its third generation of classical composers. Two of the giants from this period were pianists/composers whose first name was Sergei, however their musical conceptions were completely different from one another. Tune in to hear Rachmaninoff’s Cello Sonata in G minor and Prokofiev’s Piano Sonata No. 2 in D minor.
