Volunteer Coordinator

Location: Savannah, Georgia
Term: Savannah Music Festival 2023
Start Date: Training dates negotiable; festival dates March 23-April 8, 2023
Reports To: Marketing Director and Marketing & Patron Services Associate

The Savannah Music Festival is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator. This is a temporary position that reports to the Marketing & Patron Services Associate/Lead House Manager and works closely with SMF staff and crew during the 17-day Festival. The position will require remote hours in February 2023 and leading up to the festival, training hours in advance of the festival, and fully in-person festival hours from March 23-April 8, 2023.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work closely with Marketing & Patron Services Associate to determine SMF needs for volunteers leading up to and throughout the duration of the festival at all venues
    • Assist with the creation, distribution, and review of all volunteer shift requests and applications utilizing the Volgistics volunteer database
    • Communicate regularly (primarily via email and phone) with SMF volunteers before, during, and after shifts; serve as a general liaison between SMF staff and volunteer
    • Manage and maintain volunteer needs and schedules, and ensure all volunteer roles are filled
    • Recruit volunteers in advance of the festival by contacting and working with local schools and other community groups
    • Assist in updating volunteer handbook to be distributed at volunteer orientation and training
    • Assist in coordinating multiple volunteer orientation and training dates in advance of the festival, training volunteers on venue requirements and emergency plans
    • Work closely with Hospitality Assistant to accommodate hospitality-specific volunteer needs before and during the festival
    • Assist in coordinating volunteer appreciation efforts

  • Ability to interact with patrons, volunteers, festival staff, and artists and crew
  • professionally and personally
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Adobe Acrobat; familiarity with festival management software a plus
  • Willingness, availability, energy, and stamina to work long hours during 17-day Festival
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, driving experience, and a reliable vehicle
