House Manager (Seasonal)

Location: Savannah, Georgia
Term: Savannah Music Festival 2024
Start Date: Training dates negotiable; festival dates March 28-April 13, 2024

The Savannah Music Festival is seeking a House Manager. This is a temporary position that works closely with SMF staff and crew during the 17-day Festival. The position will require limited training hours in advance of the festival and would be assigned to support specific performances during the festival, March 23-April 8, 2023.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand and enforce volunteer policies
  • Manage volunteers for assigned performances, including conducting a pre-performance briefing with volunteers and assigning duties (ushers, merchandise assistance, and so on)
  • Work closely with Show Manager(s) to make sure assigned performances begin at the advertised times
  • Assist with set up for ticket sales, merchandise, and other SMF front-of-house needs
  • Work with SMF staff and crew to accommodate VIP and artist guest requests
  • Become intimately familiar with assigned festival venues, as well as performance and venue-specific policies
  • Understand venue seating charts and house hold policies; follow SMF venue maps to ensure volunteers are at all posts
  • Manage the flow of patrons entering and leaving the venue, especially for those performances that require a quick turnaround
  • Understand the program for each performance and work with the Show Manager(s) to determine appropriate late seating policies and seating intervals
  • Work with ushers and security, if necessary, to enforce rules regarding patrons attempting to photograph, record, or videotape performances
  • Provide courteous and prompt service to all patrons, festival staff, and festival artists and crew
  • Understand full festival schedule to be able to answer patron and volunteer questions regarding other festival performances, events, and venues

  • Strong verbal communication skills

  • Positive attitude and proven record of reliability
  • Patience, empathy, and ability to work with different personalities
  • Must have the ability to multi-task, trouble shoot, and work under pressure
  • Ability to interact with patrons, volunteers, festival staff, and artists and crew professionally and personally
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Adobe Acrobat; familiarity with Airtable a plus
  • Willingness, availability, energy, and stamina to work long hours during 17-day Festival
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and driving experience
