Multi-Grammy Award-winning troubadour Rodney Crowell, whose astute commentary helped propel the recently broadcast Ken Burns documentary, Country Music, last appeared at the Savannah Music Festival in 2013 with longtime collaborator Emmylou Harris at the Johnny Mercer Theatre. This time, Crowell is bringing his electric band to Ships of the Sea for what promises to be one of the highlights of SMF 2020. A protégé of Guy Clark and Mickey Newbury, and bandmate of Vince Gill and Tony Brown in the Cherry Bombs, Crowell was recognized in 2006 by the Americana Music Association with a Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting.
