On Saturday, February 9, 2019, Savannah Music Festival and Southbound Brewing Co. present New Orleans’ Grammy-winning Rebirth Brass Band. The concert and IPA release party mark the fifth year of a collaboration between SMF and Southbound Brewing Co. in a partnership fueled by a shared love of live music. The new hazy and juicy Wailin’ IPA is a departure from previous years’ Rollin’ & Tumblin’ IPA and is being brewed specifically for SMF’s 30th season. The pilot batch release of Wailin’ IPA will be available to sample for the first time at this special release party. In addition to pints and flights of all available Southbound brews, food truck Prowl will also be on site with its full menu of burgers. The first 50 attendees through the door will go home with a 22 oz. bomber of Wailin’ IPA and door prizes will include SMF tickets and merchandise.
About Rebirth Brass Band: Whether seen on HBO’s Treme or at their regular Tuesday night gig at The Maple Leaf, Rebirth Brass Band is a true New Orleans institution. Formed in 1983 by the Frazier brothers, the band has evolved from playing the streets of the French Quarter to playing festivals and stages all over the world. While committed to upholding the tradition of brass bands, they have also extended themselves into new realms to create their signature sound. “Rebirth can be precise whenever it wants to,” says The New York Times, “but it’s more like a party than a machine. It’s a working model of the New Orleans musical ethos: as long as everybody knows what they’re doing, anyone can cut loose.” In the wake of the sometimes-stringent competition among New Orleans brass bands, Rebirth is the undisputed leader of the pack, and they show no signs of slowing down.
Doors open at 7 pm and the concert is at 8 pm.
This event is 21+ and is standing room only.
