Savannah Music Festival continues to produce innovative education programs with the addition of Swing Central High School Jazz Band Competition and Workshop. Twelve bands (selected by audition) come to Savannah for three days of workshops with some of the nation's finest jazz educators and a chance to win up to $5000 for their school's music programs. Students participate in clinics and performances and also have opportunities to see their clinicians perform with other renowned jazz musicians in the 2008 Savannah Jazz Party concerts.

The top three bands, selected by a stellar panel of Jazz performers and educators, perform in THE ONE AND ONLY WYCLIFFE GORDON: SWING CENTRAL FINALE at 7pm, Saturday, April 5th at the Lucas Theatre. Additionally, each band participating in Swing Central is showcased in concert at CITY MARKET from 11am-2pm on April 4 & 5.
