In his only U.S. performance, Spanish vocal prodigy Pitingo displays a style he calls "flamenco soul," which is heavily influenced by Aretha Franklin, Chacón, La Niña de Los Peines and Mairena. With one of the richest voices in music today, Pitingo is on a mission to push flamenco into the modern era, stating, "Flamenco needs to progress - what has happened in guitar playing must also happen in flamenco singing. One has to contribute new harmonies and ideas; this must be the artist's goal."
