Series: Echoes of Iberia

Brazilian music is full of passion, sentiment, and joy, the result of a long simmering mix of heritage from AmerIndian, Portuguese and African sources meeting global influences to create a magical, mystical music. Wherever you go in Brazil there is always music. Few contemporary musicians there have summarized their heritage any better than the brilliant bandolim (a.k.a. mandolin) player, Hamilton de Holanda, who performed here at SMF in duo with Mike Marshall in 2006. This time, de Holanda returns with his stunningly original quintet featuring four of Brazil's finest virtuosos in their only U.S. appearance.

"For years, there's been a steady trickle of virtuoso mandolin players from Brazil... Hamilton de Holanda is widely considered the best." - Public Radio International (PRI)
