Propelled by a blazing fast fiddle and adeptly handled five string banjo, the Steep Canyon Rangers (below inset) have been taking the nation by storm. Winners of the 2006 International Bluegrass Music Association's "Emerging Artist of the Year" award, the group performs hard-driving tunes in the tradition of Bill Monroe along with acclaimed handmade songs crafted in the spirit of honky tonk, blues and country music. Come hoot and holler on the opening night of the Charles H. Morris Center.
