Ali Akbar Moradi is a widely-known composer and master of the tanbur (longnecked Kurdish lute), an instrument that is considered sacred in the Kurdish Sufism tradition. Moradi's frequent collaborations with Kurdish and Persian music mavens like Shahram Nazeri and Kayan Kalhor have put him on the world's most renowned stages. He possesses a unique style in a genre of music whose repertoire is based on ancient Persian music.
