Takumi Kodera

Yokohama, Japan (Banjo)

Takumi Kodera is 22-year-old bluegrass/jazz banjo player from Yokohama, Japan. He started playing the banjo at the age of 11 and has been appearing in festivals and on stages near and far ever since. When he’s not playing banjo, he’s studying civil engineering at Yokohama National University. He is the winner of the 2013 Yokohama Banjo Player’s Contest and a 2016 FreshGrass Banjo Award Finalist. He most values cooperativeness in other musicians and his influences include Flatt and Scruggs, Bela Fleck, and Alison Brown.
