Savannah Music Festival LIVE 707 – Quartets by Beethoven & Brahms

Johannes Brahms spent many years attempting to write string quartets. Working under the shadow of Beethoven was too challenging for the young composer and it believed that he discarded as many as twenty quartets before finally publishing his first two in 1873. In this episode, we listen to the acclaimed Jerusalem Quartet perform Brahms String Quartet No. 2 in A minor, Op. 51, No. 2 at the 2014 Savannah Music Festival. Opening the show is another 2014 performance given by violinists Benny Kim and Lorenza Borrani, violist Carla Maria Rodrigues and cellist Keith Robinson at the Trinity United Methodist Church on Telfair Square, featuring Beethoven’s String Quartet in C minor, Op. 18, No. 4.
