Since 2003, the Savannah Music Festival has grown a music education program that is unlike that of any arts organization in the region. It is rooted in our belief that the arts are fundamental to the cognitive, affective, physical and intellectual development of all children. These programs reach more than 20,000 youth each year throughout Savannah and the surrounding five counties.

Saturday, March 23 > Ahmad Jamal

Ahmad Jamal

About the performance

The Savannah debut of jazz master Ahmad Jamal is a joyous occasion to experience originality and virtuosity from an elder statesman of the music. With an illustrious career going back to 1948, Mr. Jamal is credited with redeveloping the piano trio format in jazz. This matinee concert will display why he's now playing some of the finest music yet in his career alongside drummer Herlin Riley and bassist Reginald Veal.

"Ahmad Jamal is one of the great Zen masters of jazz piano. He plays just what is needed and nothing more...every phrase is perfect." - NPR Music
