Series: Roots & Twang

As the birthplace of the blues, the South remains a haven for preeminent performers and a cross-section of stylists, which SMF showcases every year. Georgian Beverly "Guitar" Watkins has a searing, upbeat approach that she started developing in the 50s and 60s, coming up under the late barrelhouse blues master and producer Piano Red. Piedmont blues harmonica ace Phil Wiggins plays with Corey Harris, a singer/guitarist at the forefront of a "world blues" genre.

Venue: Charles H. Morris Center
Price: $35
